After natural disasters, many children struggle to receive the educational and emotional support they need. They may lose access to their homes, schools, internet, and stable routines, elements that are critical to their development. At the pivotal ages of 5–11, when children are building foundational learning skills and emotional resilience, this disruption can leave them without the guidance and support they truly need.
This creates a significant gap and raises an important question: What do parents, young learners, and teachers do when natural disasters strike and take away the schools, homes, and resources that normally support learning and stability?
-
Children in grades K–5 are still developing emotional regulation, social skills, executive functioning, and foundational academic skills. When learning environments are disrupted, these areas can become even more challenging. Interactive and gamified materials can help make learning more engaging and approachable, encouraging children to participate and stay motivated.
Mascots are also memorable for young learners and help create a stronger connection to the material. The turtle was chosen as a mascot because it represents resilience and navigation, symbolizing the ability to move through challenges and find one’s way forward.

Xplora is designed for teachers to provide young learners with the emotional and educational support they need. Its mascot, Miles the Turtle, guides children through these challenges, helping them navigate learning and growth with resilience. It can be delivered through classroom packs ordered by teachers or directly by parents for their children. Each pack includes the essential materials students need for several months to stay on track with both their learning and emotional development.
