Access to support is inconsistent across the United States, particularly in regions without strong union infrastructure.

Educators across the United States are experiencing sustained levels of job-related stress, burnout, and emotional fatigue. Increasing workloads, limited resources, and the pressure to support students beyond the classroom have made mental health a growing concern within the profession. Despite this, many teachers lack access to consistent, affordable support—particularly those who are not part of unions or work in under-resourced districts.

Research shows that stigma remains a major barrier, with many educators hesitant to seek help due to fear of judgment or professional consequences. Existing support systems are often fragmented, difficult to navigate, or inconsistently communicated, leaving a gap for a more unified and accessible approach.

These insights revealed the need for a centralized, inclusive resource that not only provides support but also shifts the cultural narrative, positioning mental health care, rest, and boundary-setting as necessary and normalized parts of sustainable teaching.

TABBS is a national support alliance that provides equitable access to mental health resources, professional guidance, and community support for educators across the United States—regardless of union status.

The campaign works to eliminate the stigma around teacher mental health while introducing clear calls to action that normalize rest, boundary-setting, and seeking help as essential components of sustainable teaching.
